Hebei launches environmental protection inspection

According to information from Department of Ecology and Environment of Hebei on October 31, many cities in Hebei faced heavy pollution weather from October 15 to October 24. As it was the time for the first round of special campaign of air environment law enforcement during autumn and winter, Department of Ecology and Environment of Hebei made plan in advance and moved fast. The department totally sent out 27,931 law enforcement officials and inspected 12,161 enterprises. It found faults in 4,382 enterprises and 5,488 issues related to gas environment.
It was said that in order to make enterprises feel the authority, the department consecutively exposed prominent problems found during the inspection and left no place for the breaches to hide. The department recorded and penalized 478 issues and 96 persons were detained by the police department in accordance with law as gas-related enterprises didn't fully implement emission reduction measures for emergency response during heavy pollution weather.
During the law enforcement inspection, the sintering production line in the northern plant of Tangshan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. didn't implement emission reduction measures for emergency response during heavy pollution weather and produced illegally. The sintering production line of Tangsteel Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. didn't implement emission reduction measures for emergency response during heavy pollution weather and produced illegally. The sintering production line of Lifeng Casting Company didn't implement emission reduction measures for emergency response during heavy pollution weather and produced illegally. Currently, the mentioned issues have been recorded for investigation and transferred to the police department. The relevant responsible persons were under administrative detention by the police department.
