  • GAC adjusts monitoring mode on bulk commodities' weight identification

    On October 17, the General Administration of Customs of P.Asian Metal CopyrightR.Asian Metal CopyrightR.Asian Metal Copyright Consignees or agents of imported bulk commodities should truthfully report weights of their imports to customs, and customs will conduct sampled inspections on reported commodities.Asian Metal Copyright China (GAC) announced that GAC decided to optimize its monitoring mode on weight identification of imported bulk commodities so as to provide better working conditions and more convenient trading procedures at Chinese ports. Specific measures include:

    1. The existing lot-by-lot weight identifications by customs will be changed into consignee-application-based inspections by customs.

    2. In case that consignees or agents of imported bulk commodities need weight certificates issued by customs, they should submit applications to customs and the latter will conduct weight identifications and issue related certificates.Asian Metal Copyright Consignees or agents of imported bulk commodities should truthfully report weights of their imports to customs, and customs will conduct sampled inspections on reported commodities.Asian Metal Copyright If consignees or agents do not need weight certificates, customs will not conduct inspections.

    3. Consignees or agents of imported bulk commodities should truthfully report weights of their imports to customs, and customs will conduct sampled inspections on reported commodities.

    This announcement will come into effect from November 1, 2019 on.
