WSA: China's demand for steel to increase by 7.8% in 2019

Global steel demand will grow 3.9% to 1.775 billion tons in 2019 and further increase by 1.7% to 1.8057 billion tons in 2020, according to short-term steel demand forecast for 2019 and 2020 released by World Steel Association (WSA).
Based on the forecast, in 2019, China's demand for steel would increase by 7.8% to 900.1 million tons and steel demand in the rest of the world would increase by 0.2% to 874.9 million tons; in 2020, the demand for steel in China would increase by 1.0% and that in the rest of the world would increase by 2.5% driven by the 4.1% growth of steel demand in emerging and developing economies (excluding China).
