Hubei clears the ultra-low emission target of the steel industry

In order to promote the high-quality development of the steel industry in Hubei, combined with the current situation of pollutant emissions in the steel industry in Hubei, the Hubei Provincial Department of Ecological Environment and the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and other departments recently jointly issued the Implementation Plan for Ultra-low Emissions Transformation of the Steel Industry in Hubei, which clarified the ultra-low emission transformation target of the steel industry.
It's understood that the newly built (including relocation) steel projects in Hubei should in principle achieve ultra-low emission levels. Among the existing steel enterprises, steel enterprises in Wuhan, Xiangyang, Yichang, Huangshi, Jingzhou, and Ezhou have implemented special atmospheric emission limits as required. The province should speed up the ultra-low emission transformation of existing steel enterprises. By the end of 2021, Wuhan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. and Hubei Xinyegang Co., Ltd. have made significant progress in ultra-low emission transformation; by the end of 2023, enterprises in seven cities such as Wuhan and Xiangyang should have basically completed the ultra-low emission transformation; the iron and steel enterprises in other regions should have basically completed the ultra-low emission transformation before the end of 2025.
