1. Market Highlights
In September, transactions for imported manganese ore were limited in China, meanwhile, downstream consumers showed strong intention to force down prices; in addition to lower prices offered by overseas suppliers, manganese ore prices continued to edge down.
Chinese silicomanganese prices trended down on the whole. In early September, the prices moved down slightly with major steel mills biding strongly and then stabilized in mid-September as suppliers mainly made shipments for contracts, leaving few deals. In late September, the prices decreased a lot affected by more inventory and lower imported manganese ore prices.
HC ferromanganese prices were stable before mid-September as producers mainly made delivery for orders singed early this month but then slipped in late September as manganese ore prices went down. In the first half month, MC ferromanganese producers held large inventory and the prices slumped, but producers had no intention to cut prices as the prices were close to cost, leaving prices stable. But with silicomanganese and manganese ore prices decreasing continuously, prices for MC ferromanganese drop further.
