Environmental protection pressure increased in September with the Chinese National Day approaching, prices of downstream steel products rebounded much as a result of decreasing operation of steel mills. Prices of both imported and Chinese origin iron ore followed uptrend in the month, especially in the first three weeks. With demand weakening later this month after steel mills cut operation, iron ore prices retreated again before the National Day holiday.
