On 29 September, Fuzhou municipal government released the "notice on special campaign to crack down on illegal rare earth ore mining activities", according to which Fuzhou will carry out a special campaign to crack down on illegal rare earth ore mining activities within the city from 29 September to the end of December
The notice requires relevant authorities to strengthen management over approval for rare earth ore mining right. Fuzhou will continue to refuse exploration and mining applications for new rare earth mines, excluding special cases, to further strengthen management over approval for rare earth ore mining right; it will severely crack down on illegal mining, processing, sales and other violations of rare earths and protected special ores; it will firmly ban exploration and mining of rare earth mines without licenses; it will positively advance the environmental remediation of mines.

By conducting this campaign, Fuzhou will investigate and punish illegal rare earth ore mining activities according to laws, firmly ban illegally-operated mines, protect ecological environment and launch remediation in rare earth mines, set up solid long-term supervision mechanism and practically protect and reasonably utilize mineral resources.
