Mexico adjusts steel import tariffs through 2024

Mexico's ministry of economy extended import tariffs on several steel products while also adjusting them through 2024, according to a notice published in the country's official gazette.
The tariff was first imposed in October 2015 and has been regularly renewed since then.
Changes to the tariffs will be gradual for 198 products. The changes became effective Sunday and will apply through August 22, 2024.
The products subject to the measure are sheet plate, hot-and cold -rolled coils, coated sheets, rebar, wire rod, seamless and welded pipes and profiles.
For some of the products, a gradual reduction in the tariff will be applied annually to 10%, 7% and 5% through September 22, 2023.
