GAC: China's metal scrap imports down by 13.8% MOM in Aug

According to data released by General Administration of Customs (GAC), China imported 250,000t of metal scrap in August, down by 13.8% MOM and 42.9% YOY. The imports of metal scrap from January to August totaled 2.39 million tons, down by 35.3% YOY.
China has tightened restrictions on the import of metal scrap since July 1. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment said that it would continue to adjust the catalogue of imported scrap management. Starting from July 1 this year, eight types of solid scraps, such as copper scrap, aluminum scrap and steel scrap, would be adjusted from non-restricted imports to restricted imports, and the control of illegal entry of foreign garbage would be resolutely strengthened.
