Changjiang Iron and Steel's capacity reduction project kicks off

On the morning of September 10, Anhui Changjiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. held the groundbreaking ceremony for the 140-ton electric furnace steelmaking programme as part of its capacity reduction and technology upgrade project.
In order to upgrade its production equipment for the purpose of quality improvement, energy conservation, emission reduction and competitiveness enhancement, the company decided to shut down the existing two 40-ton rotary furnaces and build a 140-ton electric furnace workshop, with the newly-added steelmaking capacity less than that eliminated. The project's production capacity for standard continuous casting billet is 1.1 Mtpa. The implementation plan, environmental impact assessment, capability assessment, and safety evaluation for the project have all been approved by local authority.
