1. Market Highlights
Chinese tantalum concentrate import prices increased in August. However, dampened by the poor demand from downstream consumers, Chinese tantalum oxide and metal prices decreased slightly. As the niobium concentrate import prices showed downtrend, the niobium oxide and Chinese ferroniobium prices went down accordingly. Under the pressure for the RMB depreciation, the imported ferroniobium prices continued to rise
As the downstream demand from end users picked up, European tantalite market saw higher prices this month. Encouraged by the tight supply in the spot market, European ferrroniobium prices increased further. As most consumers delayed purchasing, the American tantalum metal market witnessed lower prices in August.
