HR strip prices in major markets of China saw a downward trend during this month because of lower raw material costs and the decrease in steel mills' list prices. However, customers without urgent need for materials were expecting the price to drop further and placing orders sparingly. Many steel mills in North China did not resume the regular production due to the environmental protection inspection. Having no confidence in the market outlook, traders refused to build large stockpiles.
