MIIT holds iron & steel capacity replacement work symposium

On 31 July, Raw Material Industry Department of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and Industry Development Department of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) jointly held the iron & steel capacity replacement work symposium in order to further carry out iron & steel capacity replacement smoothly, forbid newly-added capacity and enhance achievements of reducing excessive capacity.
Industry and information authorities of Hebei, Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangxi and Yunnan, China Iron and Steel Association, China Chamber of Commerce for Metallurgical Enterprises, Metallurgical Industry Planning Research Institute, Baowu Steel Group, HBIS, China Minerals Corporation, Zenith Steel and Delong Steel joined this symposium.
Participants exchanged ideas on implementation of iron & steel capacity replacement, researched and analyzed problems and difficulties during the capacity replacement process together and put forward constructive comments and suggestions. All of them considered capacity replacement as an effective policy for reducing excessive iron & steel capacity, adjusting industry layout, boosting merger and reorganization and speeding up upgrading of iron & steel technological equipment and agreed on further implementation of the policy.
MIIT stated that it will further revise and complete related policies for iron & steel industry capacity replacement, keep perfecting performance and improve industry administration level by taking the symposium and opinions from experts into consideration.
