HR strip prices in North China witnessed an upward trend during this month mainly supported by higher raw material costs and the increase in steel mills' list prices, while those in East China and South China decreased slightly on weak customer demand. Many steel mills in Hebei province could not keep the regular production affected by the environmental protection inspection. Customers were mostly purchasing materials for urgent need and they were reluctant to build large stockpiles. Insiders think the market would continue to be quiet in the coming month on weak customer demand.
