Nyrstar restarts Port Pirie lead smelter

Nyrstar said that it has restarted production at its Port Pirie lead smelter in Australia.
The smelter suspended production on May 28 due to an unplanned outage at the blast furnace.
A spokesman confirmed that operations at Port Pirie have resumed with both the TSL furnace and blast furnace now operating normally.
Nyrstar, owned by trading house Trafigura, lost 30,000t of lead metal due to the outage, the company said on July 19.
Port Pirie produced 160,000 t of lead metal last year, down by 7% from the previous year.
