    1. Market Highlights

    In May, Chinese silicomanganese transactions inched down gradually. On the one hand, downstream steel mills had limited demand for the material with low operating rate resulted from low profit; on the other hand, spot supply of the material was abundant and was expected to rise with new capacities released, causing a slightly decline in transaction prices on the spot market.

    In May, there were more manganese ore inventory at ports in China. Downstream demand was not strong and trended down.
