1. Market Highlights
Generally speaking, ferrochrome prices in China showed a downward trend in May. Leading steel mills decreased their HC ferrochrome bidding prices by RMB200/t (USD28.90/t); stainless steel market kept gloomy, spot transactions of ferrochrome were limited amid downward prices. As most market players expected the decline of prices in future market, a small part of suppliers had lowered their prices actively to conclude deals. Thus, it is believed that ferrochrome prices would decline under pressure in June.
This month, transactions of chrome ore in ports were sparse and the inventory was increasingly high. As most purchasers held wait-and-see attitudes and expected the decline of prices in the future, it is expected that chrome ore prices would continue to drop in June. Besides, overseas chrome ore suppliers had to lower their prices to conclude deals under the market pressure.
