According to a report released by INSG on June 5th, the global refined nickel market is expected to see about 80,000t of supply shortage in 2019 while the figure in 2018 was approximately 150,000t.
Richardo Ferreira, the director from the Department of Market Research and Statistics, said during a conference held in Amsterdam, "The global nickel market has seen supply shortage since 2016. It's expected that the supply shortage would be about 80,000t in 2019, a decrease compared with that in 2018."
He further noted that the global nickel market was sluggish in early 2019, but saw more demand in March 2019 mainly because of increased output for stainless steel in China.
INSG predicted that the global nickel consumption volume would go up by 5.8% to 2 . 464 million tons in 2019.
