  • Canada to resume steel industry safeguard measures

    2019-06-04 16:59:07   [Print]
Department of Finance Canada announced on Monday that the government of Canada will abolish the two-year suspension of steel industry safeguard measures, which are applicable to steel products previously under import protection.

According to the announcement, such adjustments would enable the government to stabilize iron and steel market in Canada and further protect the flexibility of Canadian workers and producers to escape from negative impacts caused by global instability and potential import surge.

"Just as announced on 26 April, 2019, the government also cooperates with Canadian workers and KOLs and takes action to further prevent steel industry and other industries from suffering impacts of unfair trade", the announcement mentioned.
