Meng Wei, spokesman of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) noted on May 17, that the iron and steel industry is in relatively stable operating condition now and the capacity utilization rate keeps in reasonable range. Next, the government will pay close attention to the comprehensive operation of iron and steel industry. On the one hand, the government continues to adhere to the market-oriented and legal principles, resolve the iron and steel overcapacity issues unswervingly, maintain zero tolerance on capacity that violates laws and regulations and consolidate the achievements of decapacity. On the other hand, the government encourages making full use of industry associations, fostering industrial innovation and development, strengthening industrial coordination and self-discipline, implementing industrial supervision and analysis and taking meaningful measures timely.
