According to www.fmprc.gov.cn, at the regular press conference on 20 May, a reporter noticed that Chinese leaders are in Jiangxi to inspect and investigate development of local rare earth industry and wondered whether China will fight back to the U.S. by restricting export of rare earth against the background of the Sino-U.S. trade friction.
Lu Kang, the Foreign Ministry's spokesman, answered this question, "It's a normal practice for Chinese leaders to inspect and investigate related industry policies within the country, please stop making too many connections. The Sino-U.S. trade relationship must be established on the basis of mutual-respect, equality and mutual benefit."
