1. Market Highlights
Generally speaking, HC and LC ferrochrome prices kept decreasing in April. The increase in leading tender prices for April did not support the spot prices to stand firm this week. Restricted by high output but low demand, spot prices slid continuously to the level below the tender prices of three major steel mills by the end this month.
Chrome ore prices of both at Chinese ports and seaborne cargo dropped due to bearish ferrochrome market. The market witnessed weak transactions as smelters hold negative attitude towards the coming market. Overseas suppliers tried to lower their lowers to encourage sales this month.
European HC ferrochrome suppliers lifted their offers slightly early this month in view of potential power constraints in South Africa and Inner Mongolia China. However, the market witnessed low spot liquidity amid ample supply but soft demand in the rest of the month, so the prices kept decreasing then. American HC ferrochrome prices are roughly unchanged amid low liquidity this month.
