Demand of iron ore continued improving in the month as more steel mills in China enlarged operation after March with environmental protection pressure decreasing. Supply of Chinese origin iron ore became very tight and its price rebounded after a temporary decline early in the month due to tax cut. In the meanwhile, prices of imported iron ore soared due to tightening supply and active demand in the month. Many insiders are expecting iron ore prices to stay firm in the coming May when downstream steel market will also gradually improve as long as the Sino-US trade talk goes smooth.
