Waste lead-acid battery recycling rate to reach 40% in 2020 in Chongqing

According to Chongqing Ecology and Environment Bureau, the city formulated the "Pilot Work Program of Centralized Collection and Cross-regional Transportation System for Lead Battery Manufacturing Enterprises" (hereinafter referred to as "Pilot Program") to start the pilot work of lead-acid battery collection, transshipment and disposal.
According to the Pilot Program, the system of extended lead-acid batteries producers' responsibility in Chongqing will be formed and the system of centralized collection and cross-regional transportation of waste lead-acid batteries will be initially established by 2020 to effectively prevent and control the environmental risk of waste lead-acid batteries. The standard recovery rate of waste lead-acid batteries in the pilot units in Chongqing will reach 40% by 2020.
It is understood that the pilot period set by Chongqing is from April 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020. The pilot scope covers lead-acid battery manufacturers with certain scale and market share in Chongqing and their parent companies at higher levels, as well as units with licenses for comprehensive utilization of waste lead-acid batteries.
