1. Market Highlights
Prices for HRC kept going up and down in major Chinese domestic markets during the month. Reporting limited sales volumes, most traders were cautious about supplementing inventories and reluctant to move down prices seeing rising purchasing costs. Baowu Group, the bellwether of domestic mills announced to move up HRC EXW prices for April production by RMB300/t (USD45/t) Ex-VAT. Complaining prices were too high, end users only purchased according to urgent needs and had no intention to build large stockpiles, with wait-and-see attitudes. In the meantime, prices for HRC ran on different trends in other Asian markets during the month. Considering the overall stockpile stays on a low level, insiders foresee a slight price increase in April.
