The silicomanganese market remained generally stable in February. During the Chinese New Year holiday in early February, market participants left the market for holiday, and the market saw few transactions. From mid-February, consumers returned from the holiday but were reluctant to make purchases with sufficient inventory made before the holiday. Late this month, the soft demand was unable to improve, and transaction prices slightly dropped.
The transactions of manganese improved in February, and the price went up. Suppliers had to raise quotations to avoid losses when most of inventory held by traders were high-price manganese ore. Meanwhile, transactions increased as consumers returned from the holiday and started purchasing. The price at Tianjin Port increased significantly especially.
