1. Market Highlights
As Xi Jinping met with Donald Trump on 1 December, prices for Chinese nickel cathode edged up early this month affected by this favorable news. As the supply of Chinese brand nickel cathode was sufficient, the price difference between Chinese brand nickel cathode and Norilsk nickel cathode became smaller and smaller. Downstream stainless steel producers waited on the sidelines due to financial pressure at the end of the year, causing continuously dropping prices for nickel cathode 99.9%min.
Prices for battery grade nickel sulfate moved down and transactions that were concluded by cash increased this month as some producers needed to recoup funds at the end of the year and prices for nickel cathode dropped. In addition, prices for NCM precursor continued moving down affected by decreased prices for cobalt sulfate.
As prices for nickel cathode and stainless steel dropped, those for ferronickel and nickel ore kept decreasing.
