MIIT issues implementation measures of capacity replacement in iron & steel industry

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently issued the "Measures for the Implementation of Capacity Replacement in Iron and Steel Industry" (hereinafter referred to as "Measures") to revise the original capacity replacement measures. Insiders believe that the new regulations are generally more stringent, and more steps to prohibit new capacity and reduce existing capacity is taken.
It is pointed out that the production capacity, such as those required to be included in the task of removing capacity of iron and steel, withdrawal capacity enjoying reward and subsidy funds and policy support, production capacity of nonstandard steel, backward capacity, capacity of main equipment dismantled before confirmation of replacement, and capacity of non-iron and steel industry smelting equipment including that of foundry, shall not be used for replacement.
