China, U.S. resume negotiation in Beijing

In order to get consensus on trade war, China and the U.S. trigger a two-day vice-ministerial level talk starting from 7 January.
The U.S. trade delegation led by Jeffery Gerrish, deputy trade representative, arrived in Beijing on 6 January.
According to Ministry of Commerce of the P.R.C, China and the U.S. had a vice-ministerial level telephone communication on the morning of 4 January and confirmed that Jeffery Gerrish, U.S. deputy trade representative, will visit China on 7-8 January to have positive and constructive discussions on implementing important China-U.S. consensus on trade, which was reached by China and U.S. leaders in Argentina, with Chinese counterparts.
On 1 December, 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Trump reached a consensus on trade war truce during the G20 Summit in Argentina, deciding to stop levying new tariffs for 90 days. Both parties expect to come to an agreement before the deadline of 2 March, 2019 through negotiation.
