In November, the price difference between Norilsk nickel cathode and domestic nickel cathode 99.9%min became larger due to the depreciation of RMB and appreciation of USD. As government subsidies for the battery industry decreased, downstream consumers bore great financial pressure and only made purchases from hand to mouth, leading to sluggish transactions for NCM precursor, and thus prices for nickel sulfate moved down.
As the operating rates of stainless steel plants and ferronickel producers were relatively low now, ferronickel producers held prices firm first and then reduced prices as prices for nickel cathode moved down and downstream stainless steel plants forced purchase prices down. Therefore, stainless steel plants were inclined to purchase nickel cathode.
