Taizhou releases local guidance for stainless steel industry

On 30 September, 2018, the transformation and upgrading guidance for stainless steel industry in Taizhou that was jointly drafted and developed by China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute and other bodies was formally released. As the first standard of this kind in China, it will support stainless steel industry in Taizhou to transform and upgrade and promote high-quality development of the industry.
As a pillar industry in Taizhou, the stainless steel industry has realized pooling of resources, enterprise cluster and industrial cluster after developing for nearly six decades. Besides a key zone of Chinese stainless steel industry, Dainan Town of Xinghua is also a national demonstration base of city mining and characteristic town. With a complete industrial chain (including recycling of scraps, smelting, quality testing, rolling, pickling, production, logistics and trading), the town develops in a way that is completely different from that of large stainless steel enterprises by adhering to the development orientation of small product, big market, small amount and diversity. 200,000 people in Dainan and surrounding areas benefit from the stainless steel industry in terms of starting business and getting jobs and a stainless steel industrial cluster covering three cities (districts) and seven towns is formed. However, the stainless steel industry in Taizhou also faces great pressure and severe challenges as China adjusts industrial policies and industrial technology upgrades. Therefore, the municipal government of Taizhou attaches great significance to transformation and upgrading of this industry. Taizhou Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision was required to take the lead and China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute, a national authority in this field, was selected to develop the local guidance for transformation and upgrading of stainless steel industry in Taizhou.
