Shaanxi releases new program for air pollution control

In order to make achievements in air pollution control and based on the three-year action plan of air pollution control issued by the State Council, Shaanxi Province recently released its three-year action plan for air pollution control (2018-2020) (revised), according to which Shaanxi will achieve the national targets of good weather rate and PM2.5 concentration by 2020. The rate of heavy pollution is expected to decrease by over 25% compared with that of 2015 and the concentration of PM10 is expected to go down dramatically.
In terms of adjusting and optimizing industrial structure, Shaanxi Province will ban new construction and expansion of coal-fired power generation and coal-fired thermal power facilities in core areas in the next three years. In the meanwhile, it will also strengthen elimination of outdated and excess capacities and promote environmental-friendly development.
