1. Market Highlights
The Chinese Rare Earth Market continued to witness sliding prices and weakening demand in July. Affected by the Chinalco Rare Earth pollution incident and firm production costs, suppliers in South China tried to raise prices by purchasing the raw materials early this month. In addition, it was said that the national reserve bureau had finished the recombination and tried to carry out a plan in September. However, suppliers held pessimistic attitudes through the whole month due to slack downstream demand, bad macro economical trend, trade war and strict environmental inspection. As a result, the market kept dim through the whole month.
