Recently, Inner Mongolia has issued a notice to control mining and metallurgy activities in 43 banner counties, accounting for roughly 80% of the total area in Inner Mongolia.
According to the list, the most stricken industries are those of mining and beneficiation of iron ore and coal, the downstream steel extension, coking, thermal power generation, soil and gravel mining, cement and other building materials, etc. with almost no new constructions permitted . In non-ferrous metal industry, new constructions are prohibited in some banner counties and the scale is restricted in some other banner counties as for industries of aluminum, copper, lead and zinc, precious metals and other mining or postpones processing . Obviously, after the negative list is announced, the new investment in mining and downstream industries in Inner Mongolia will be greatly affected in the future.
