According to news from the State Administration of Taxation of the People's Republic of China on February 27th, China's first green tax declaration period will start on April 1st; local tax authorities have identified over 260,000 enterprises and other entities to be taxpayers of the green tax based on the basic information of pollution source and the historical data of sewage made by environmental departments and are making efforts to gather the basic information related to taxpayers.

As China's first uniserial tax law that stimulates the construction of the ecological civilization, the Environmental Protection Tax Law took effect on Jan 1, indicating the end to the "pollutant discharge fee," which China had been collecting for nearly 40 years. In accordance with the stipulation of the law, taxpayers have to file for taxation each quarter and thus the first green tax declaration period will start on Apr 1 this year.
