Taicang Port imports more than 2 million tons of iron ore in January

Statistics from Jiangsu's inspection and quarantine department showed that in January 2018, Taicang Port imported a total of 2.129 million tons of iron ore, with a value of USD120 million. Two terminals of Taicang Port ended the relevant bulk import business successively in the second half of last year, so the local iron ore imports decreased slightly YOY. In the meantime, the unit price of imported iron ore, which kept rising in 2017, showed the first decline after entering 2018.
There are totally 14 suppliers of iron ore imported into Taicang Port, including Australia, Brazil, South Africa and so on, while the total number of domestic consignees is 63, which is characterized by "the relative concentration of foreign suppliers and the widespread distribution of domestic cargoes". The most iron ore imports are from Australia, supply from which accounted for 79.3% of the total weight last year and is still continuing to rise.
