Gansu province reports significant results in mineral resource exploration

During the twelfth five-year period (2011-2015), Gansu province invested a total of RMB11.73 billion into mineral explorations. A total of 1,652 mineral projects were explored, and there were 32 large-sized deposits and 45 medium-sized deposits discovered. And significant progress was made in the exploration of over 10 important minerals including coal, copper, zinc and lead, gold, iron, niobium, tantalum and others.
One large-sized iron ore deposit, four medium-sized iron deposits and one small iron deposit were discovered in Kawa, Sunan County, and their total iron resources are estimated to be 415 million tons. Iron resources of just No.1 section of Kawa iron deposit are expected to be 196 million tons, thus making the prospect a large-sized mine.
New progress was also made in coal exploration in Longdong region of Gansu province. Over 10 coal deposits were discovered, coal resources of which total 11.5 billion tons.
