Taiwan reduces solar energy FIT cuts for H1 of 2018

Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs will cut FIT for photovoltaic power generation to NTD5.8744 (about USD0.20) per kWh in the first half of next year, a rise of 9% compared with NTD5.3848, the aim proposed initially this September.
The FIT cuts aim at solar energy equipment of below 20 MW and thus cover all rooftop PV system in Taiwan. The FIT for other devices such as ground-based and floating solar power equipment will be NTD4.2429-4.6901/kWh, a reduction of 3.79% -5.8%.
The renewable energy penetration coefficient is only 2% in Taiwan at present, while the goal for 2025 is 20%, which means the installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation equipment should reach 30 GW by then while the cumulative solar power generation capacity is only about 1.4 GW for now.
