Chinese stainless steel prices witnessed a downward trend during this month because of lower raw material costs and decrease in steel mills’ list prices. Expecting the price to go down further, customers without urgent need for materials were just holding a wait-and-see attitude and refusing to place orders. Besides, some downstream customers could not maintain the regular production due to environmental protection inspection and their demand for stainless steel decreased accordingly. Traders were not confident of the market outlook and refused to build large stockpiles. Insiders do not suppose the market will improve in the coming month.
