In August, prices for ferrosilicon mainly kept moving up because of tight supply and strong downstream demand, but declined at the end of the month as the supply increased. By the end of the month, prices for ferrosilicon moved up by RMB2,400/t (USD364/t) from the end of last month. Considering the increase supply in the market, industry insiders forecasted that the price for ferrosilicon would decrease in September.
In August, affected by the trend of factory prices, export prices for Chinese ferrosilicon continued to move up, but stayed stable at the end of the month. As to the end of August, export prices went up by USD410/t from the end of last month. Industry insiders predicted that in September the export price for ferrosilicon would go down because of the declining factory prices.
