Masteel increases NGO electrical steel prices for August production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Jul 17 - A sales official from Anhui province-based Ma’anshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (Masteel) reported to Asian Metal that the company raised its list prices of non-grain oriented electrical steel for August production. After the increase, the price of M50W800 0.5mm*1,200mm*C is about RMB5,800/t (USD859/t) VAT included, compared to that of RMB5,400/t (USD799/t) for July production
“Because of higher raw material costs and the sharp price increase in spot market, we followed other producers such as Baosteel and WISCO to lift prices for August production,” he explained. According to him, the price of cold rolled coil SPCC 1.0mm*1,250mm*C in Shanghai went up by about RMB470/t (USD70/t) in the past month to RMB4,250-4,300/t (USD629-637/t) VAT included. Besides, the current mainstream market price of M50W800 0.5mm*1,200mm*C from Masteel is around RMB5,950/t (USD881/t) VAT included in Shanghai, up by RMB450/t (USD67/t) this month.
There are three production lines of non-grain oriented electrical steel in Masteel which can produce grades of 1,300-250 with a regular monthly output of about 45,000t. “Because of the blast furnace maintenance, the output of NGO electrical steel for July is about 30,000t,” he said, adding that they don’t have stocks in hand and customers need to place orders in advance.
Located in Maanshan, Anhui province, Masteel is a major producer of non-grain oriented electrical steel in China with an annual production of around 500,000 tonnes.
