In June, Chinese ferrosilicon prices continued to rise. The operating rate from China’s ferrosilicon industry almost remained unchanged this month and prices for the raw material edged up; moreover, road transportation cost moved up and the spot market continued to see tight supply. Ferrosilicon prices in late June increased by RMB150/t (USD22/t) from early June.
Meantime, export prices for Chinese ferrosilicon climbed up by USD10/t slightly. As ferrosilicon prices from Chinese producers continued to go up, export prices for the material moved up; in addition, ferrosilicon export prices for some countries remained low, such as Russia; thus, the Chinese ferrosilicon export market saw sparse deals.
