WBMS: Global copper supply sees a slight shortage of 5,000t from Jan to Apr 2017

Statistics on June 21 from the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) indicated that the global copper supply saw a slight shortage of 5,000t from Jan to Apr 2017 while the figure in 2016 reached 69,000t.
Stocks slipped during April, stocks have increased by 82,000t till late April compared with the figure in late December 2016.
Copper output from mines was 6.55 million tons from Jan to Apr 2017, down by 0 . 6% compared with the same period of last year.
Global output of refined copper was 7.67 million tons during the first four months of 2017, down by 0 . 6% compared with the same period of last year while output in Chile reduced 144,000t.
Cooper consumption from Jan to Apr 2017 reached 7.67 million tons while the figure last year was 7 . 87 million tons.
The apparent consumption of copper in China from Jan to Apr 2017 slipped to 3.659 million tons, down by 303,000t from the same period of 2016, accounting for less than 48% in the total global apparent consumption.
Cooper output increased by 3.0% from the 28 EU countries during Jan to Apr 2017 while the demand was 1 . 1316 million tons, down by 4 . 4% YOY.
In April 2017, the global refined copper output was 1.9199 million tons while consumption was 2 . 0041 million tons.
