WBMS: Global tin market sees 106,000t of supply shortage in first four months of 2017

According to data released by WBMS on June 21st, the global tin market saw the supply shortage of 106,000t in first four months of 2017, while the figure was 236,000t in 2016.
Based on the report in April, tin stocks declined by 93,000t.
LME tin stocks decreased by 23,000t in April and tin stocks in late April 2017 declined by 80,000t compared with that in late 2016.
LME tin stocks accounted for 38.5% of the total in the global market. The demand of China went up by 2% YOY. Chinese output for refined tin rose by 1.3% compared with that in 2016. China mainly imported special high grade zinc and the imports were 48,000t in April with 106,000t in the first 4 months of 2017, down by 115,000t compared with that in first 4 months of 2016.
Global output for refined tin increased by 3.1% while the global consumption for the material went up by 4.7%. The demand for refined tin of Japan was 184,000t in first 4 months of 2017, up by 19% YOY.
Global demand for refined zinc in first 4 months of 2017 increased by 206,000t in compared with the same period of 2016. The apparent demand was about 2.10 million tons in China.
Global output for slab zinc was about 1.11 million tons in April 2017 while the consumption was about 1.24 million tons during the month.
