Formosa Vietnam Ha Tinh Iron and Steel's No.1 blast furnace approved for trial operation

According to reports from the Vietnamese media on May 11, joint committee of Vietnamese government department conducted joint acceptance for the trial operation of No.1 blast furnace of Ha Tinh Iron and Steel invested by Formosa Petrochemical. According to the committee, the steel plant has completed all projects of construction for environmental protection in accordance with the requirements of the ministry of government of Vietnam and have satisfied the conditions of the test operation of the No.1 blast furnace, so they approved trial operation of the furnace.
In April 2016, a large number of sea fish were killed in four Northern coastal provinces in Vietnam. Vietnamese government made a survey and believed that the accident was caused by improper drainage of Ha Tinh Iron and Steel plant, they make a decision on fines of $500 million for the plant and order that the plant shall run again after making measures of environmental protection.
