According to reports from WBMS on Wednesday, the global copper market faces a supply surplus of 58,000t in 2016, while the figure was 141,000t for 2015.
The global copper output from mines amounted to 20.66 million tonnes in 2016, up by 6 . 9% YOY.
The global refined copper output rose to 23.46 million tonnes in 2016, up by 2 . 1% YOY . In particular, the output of China and Spain rose by 476,000t and 14,000t respectively.
The global copper consumption amounted to 23.40 million tonnes in 2016, while this figure was 22 . 83 million tonnes in 2015.
In December 2016, the global refined copper industry produced a total of 1.9945 million tonnes and consumed 1 . 9708 million tonnes.
