Due to the oversupply for silicomanganese and the sharply decreased price for building steel, the price for silicomanganese continued to decline in the Chinese market in May. Nevertheless, the price for ferromanganese didn’t decrease so much in the domestic market during the month as the relationship between supply and demand was relatively coordinated.
As prices for silicomanganese and ferromanganese decreased, manganese alloy plants held a cautious attitude in purchasing manganese ore in May, resulting in limited transactions in the spot market and decreased price.
