Prices for Chinese silicomanganese and ferromanganese were hard to increase from early April and some producers lowered their prices for the material due to the increased supply. As prices for steel products stopped from increasing and began to decrease in mid-April, prices for silicomanganese and ferromanganese were once again under great pressure and were forced to decrease. In late April, some steel mills lowered their tender prices for silicomanganese, resulting in silicomanganese prices declining further. Thus, prices for ferromanganese dropped more rapidly in the Chinese market compared with those of silicomanganese.
As prices for manganese alloys decreased, prices for manganese ore were also under great downward pressure. But Chinese traders didn’t lower their prices for manganese ore in large scale affected by the increased prices in overseas market.
