Many participants in Chinese manganese alloys markets only started to pick up business again in early March due to the influence of the national holiday in late February. As some end users still held certain amount of stocks, and buyers wanted to make clear the mainstream prices before concluding any real deals, the markets didn’t see too many activities during most of the month. With time went on, both suppliers and end users became increasingly pessimistic about future manganese alloys markets under continuous price decline of manganese ore and the still abundant supply.
In early March, many manganese alloy producers resumed production, but foreign suppliers decreased the quotation of manganese ore and manganese alloy kept dull. Meanwhile, the stocks were adequate at ports, so the users tried their best to lower the purchase price on manganese ore. Meanwhile, many manganese alloy plants stockpiled large manganese ore before the holiday, so the market saw rare transactions. As a result, manganese ore prices kept falling in March.
