Prebaked anode self-supply rate in Xinjiang is around 68.15%

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 31 Dec 15 - According to Asian Metal Database, the prebaked anode self-supply rate for primary aluminum smelters in Xinjiang was around 68.15% in December. The demand for the material in the month is around 3.27 million tonnes in Xinjiang.
Primary aluminum smelters in Xinjiang (Unit:10kt):
The above table shows that there are eight smelters in Xinjiang, with total running annual aluminum capacity of 6.53 million tonnes. Six of them own prebaked anode plants by themselves, and the running annual prebaked anode capacity is around 2.2 million tonnes, based on the designed capacity of 3.3 million tonnes. Among the six smelters, four smelters' prebaked anode supply cannot meet their demand. Based on the current running capacity, Xinjiang needs purcahse around 1.05 million tonnes of the material in the market each year.
In 2016, new primary aluminum projects progress will slow down due to sluggish aluminum market, while prebaked anode projects establishment may speed up.
